what is it with white people and being carried on thrones by non-whites? so much wrong with this, I don’t know where to start.

OH MY GOD.

Hmm. This looks awfully similar to this:

And this too:

Excuse me while I throw up all over these royal jerks.

Ah I love these kind of Tumblr users. Let’s ignore the fact that the people of Tuvalu built the carry thrones for the William and Kate as a mark of respect and to thank them for visiting the tiny nation as part of the Jubilee tour.

Let’s ignore the fact that nearly everyone in those photos is smiling.

No let’s hark back to a long gone era of imperialism where the White Man’s burden was justification of exploitation, and tar people born 100 years after those times with the same brush.

You’re much more likely to find the Royals of this world doing this..

than consenting oppression.

Social justice bloggers

I guess treating honoured guests with warmth and hospitality through their own traditions and customs is a sign of oppression. Funny how that works out.

While the world has so many unresolved issues, this is the thing you stumble upon. This custom of a nation. Let’s hate on the royal couple and feel better about ourselves. Let’s hate them because we’re not royalty and they’re not american/canadian or whatever the fuck we are. They should have been assholes and fuck diplomacy and they should have said: I think you custom is stupid and ridiculous and we don’t appreciate the way you welcome your guests because some idiot might comment about this and call us racists. Fuck you! If those people want to carry them or wash their feet or bow down to them I don’t give a shit because this is how they chose to welcome their guests and you don’t have a say in that.

As soon as I saw the Kate Middleton being carried around in the way these people would treat any royal guests, I knew this was going to be good
